The final tercet is outstanding so, if it were me, I would be disinclined to change it. I would probably alter the couplet.

For instance:

Home alone - but,
distracted, my heart stirs.

This implies that something has distracted the poet, implying noise without stating it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8126207.post-71037142343147643102008-12-17T06:08:00.000-07:002008-12-17T06:08:00.000-07:00This is beautiful Vaughn - love that last verse - ...This is beautiful Vaughn - love that last verse - have seen this before and always wondered why one seems to stay behind...Janice Thomsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02506920585319893814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8126207.post-53321145651401444812008-12-16T19:23:00.000-07:002008-12-16T19:23:00.000-07:00Thank you all!Tammy Lee: Is my writing a spiritual...Thank you all!

Tammy Lee: Is my writing a spiritual path? "Stirs my heart" leads me to think the poet is anticipating someone and, since the expression is usually used in a positive sense, I suspect that the poet's anticipation is hopeful.

The final tercet is beautiful and could easily succeed as an exceptionally strong haiku in its own right. My only complaint is that within the context of the renhai, it repeats information already provided in the couplet. That is: "rustling sound" is redundant, duplicating "noise/ downstairs".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8126207.post-68270699927467268342008-12-16T12:44:00.000-07:002008-12-16T12:44:00.000-07:00Did that last sparrow actually stay, or just take ...Did that last sparrow actually stay, or just take off a few seconds after the others? It's only since I started writing haiku that I've realized that, even when sparrows take off all at once, they don't take off all at once.Billhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10717622168200846486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8126207.post-19256599691180637092008-12-16T02:36:00.000-07:002008-12-16T02:36:00.000-07:00Rainy Christmas time…A boy would touch a sparrowAt...Rainy Christmas time…
A boy would touch a sparrow
At a sliding door.Boruthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13990298332042076231noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8126207.post-1884424229113400892008-12-15T21:58:00.000-07:002008-12-15T21:58:00.000-07:00nice work!nice work!J. One that has inspired you to see life around you fully and in a simple way. Perhaps brought you to your feelings more clearly, so that you may share them, express them in words.
