Polona: Thanks. I had usually only counted the cars in the past myself. But the day I penned this haiku I noticed the serial numbers on the cars also had 3- or 4-letter codes in front of the 5-digit numbers. I did some research and found this about Canadian rail car serial numbers:
i like the factual aspect but also the underlying sense of passing time (it must be the time of year - it's getting to us all)

Sounds like the train is going too slow!! Guess I could stop cussing the railroad and read the serial numbers. Could be good therapy...
