After dinner... rings of smoke between sips of coffee.

[Smoking laws in many places have generally grown tougher over the years. Those of us who are non-smokers and living in a non-smoking city or province/state often take this for granted. At one time this haiku would depict a normal scene in a restaurant.]
reminded me of a cartoon when I was a kid that depicted an old bear smoking, and grabbing the smoke rings and dipping them into his coffee and eating them like do-nuts.
Why don't I remember things that happened yesterday?
From "The Haiku Anthology" I became interested in Haiku and I have since written numerous haiku, senyru, and tanka. "Masago", my haiku pen-name, means "grain(s) of sand" in Japanese. I have recently started learning Esperanto and Japanese. A few years ago I developed a new eastern verse form which we now call 'Renhai'.

Thanks for the memory jump start.
Ah, well, we still have coffee.
Don't we?
reminded me of my dad...many many years ago
Irene: Glad you like it. Your ";p" is cute.
Aurora: Thank you (nice poem).
Floots: Who hasn't tried at least once, eh?
Tikkis: Ah, Tikkis with a pipe, maybe we can photoshop that in. :-)
Polona: Thank you.
Pamela: Cute cartoon.
Bill: Yes, especially espresso!
Donna: Yes, this image is not as common anymore is it?
So, you're depicting a vanishing world - the world as a swirl of smoke. This one will surely remain after the world of smoke is long gone...!:)
Haven't put one of those nasty things to my lips in 26 years. Back then I couldn't drink a cup of coffee without one. Well done!!
Borut: Yes, it does seem to be vanishing. :-)
Pat: Thanks.
