a gray jay finds a sunflower shell... empty feeder
Link with 910: Early
[Sometimes in life our hopes are raised and then quickly dashed. I'm sure this gray jay won't have to call 911 and will be able to forage at another non-empty feeder...and, of course, there is always nature's buffet.]
Pamela: What are "chips & hearts"? We had a bird feeder a few years back but the birds tended to spread seeds on the lawn which attracted squirrels and mice.
Borut: Ouch. :-)
Pat: They have you well trained.
Polona: Yeah, especially on cold days (you have k(no)w idea what that is, right?). Thanks.
chips and hearts are sunflower seeds that are hulled... and are probably the pieces that are broken up that can't be sold to humans because they aren't pretty anymore.
They also fall out of the feeders, but they don't germinate and grow, and the ground birds like the junco's and some of the sparros slick them up pretty good.
and the niger(thistle)seeds are irradiated so they don't grow either.
From "The Haiku Anthology" I became interested in Haiku and I have since written numerous haiku, senyru, and tanka. "Masago", my haiku pen-name, means "grain(s) of sand" in Japanese. I have recently started learning Esperanto and Japanese. A few years ago I developed a new eastern verse form which we now call 'Renhai'.

I spoil my birds... I buy chips and hearts (keeps the hubby from griping about sunflowers growing in the yard and shells on the patio)
I don't take disappointment well, so I really feel for that gray jay.
I was more lucky. I found the inner meaning of your haiku in ... the comment section. How generous!:)Sometimes it's just our inability...
My birds come pecking on the window when the feeders run out. Is that domestication??
i think they know sooner or later the feeder will fill again :)
well done!

this one feels cold -- I'm so ready for spring!
