by Masago: Rengay #10 (Nov 4-10, 2007) Summary
Heading South
Prairie horizon — ducks in a 'V' fly in / from the north.
An A-frame roof raised - the urban view expands.
A horse shoe / over the fireplace mantle — fading memories.
Basement reno — the wooden sawhorse, now / the kids' pony.
Telephone pole nest — an osprey lands with fish.
E-mail message: "Our last kid moved out / just yesterday."
The central theme of this rengay is the spelling of the word "VACATE". Each verse contributes a letter in sequence either by name as in verses 1, 2, and 6, or by shape as in verses 3, 4, and 5. The word VACATE, of course, is related to the ducks in the first verse that are vacating their Northern summer home as well as the last kid that has moved out in verse 6.
There is a secondary theme of things related to Homes.
