From "The Haiku Anthology" I became interested in Haiku and I have since written numerous haiku, senyru, and tanka. "Masago", my haiku pen-name, means "grain(s) of sand" in Japanese. I have recently started learning Esperanto and Japanese. A few years ago I developed a new eastern verse form which we now call 'Renhai'.

great to meet prairie dogs and burrowing owls outside TV documentaries
they seem more real here
cheers
Sounds like owl is looking for a dinner date!!
Clear image that generates a whole cluster of meanings.
nice image, can be interpreted in several ways...
Thanks everyone!
Pat: Perhaps, though they mostly like bugs and when visiting "previously owned holes" they are usually just looking to move in. :-)
