- From "The Haiku Anthology" I became interested in Haiku and I have since written numerous haiku, senyru, and tanka. "Masago", my haiku pen-name, means "grain(s) of sand" in Japanese. I have recently started learning Esperanto and Japanese. A few years ago I developed a new eastern verse form which we now call 'Renhai'.

Pat, Polona: excellent ideas...I hadn't thought of these possibilities. The great thing with haiku is the freedom the reader has in interpreting the words in those three short lines. My original concept was that the squirrel was upset that he had "lost" his dinner as he/she was watching it float away down the stream. :-)
