by Masago: Rengay #40 (Jun 01-07, 2008) Summary
Little Slug
Oh, little slug,
get moving, go on...
a robin's nearby.
Chicken dinner was ordered —
will it come before breakfast?
Railway crossing —
the other side's lineup
grows longer.
Grocery checkout
queue... "price check,
aisle seven!"
Rising price of gas —
sidewalks grow familiar.
Stone wall —
the setting sun's shadow
reaches a ladybug.
The central theme in this rengay is "Slow Movement". I wrote the first verse at a time when I was reading some of the haiku of Issa. I was inspired to write in his style, sympathetic to nature's creatures.
