Rengay Through the Seasons #49 Summary

by Masago: Rengay #49 (Aug 3-9, 2008) Summary

Between

The wipers almost
clean off the windshield —
bugs rest in pieces.

Pansies from her garden —
plated between panes.

Two slices
of fresh deli rye —
watercress.

Picnic table —
seven of us try
to fit around.

We all pose for the shot —
the shutter, slowly pressed.

A frog in water
flicks out its tongue —
catches a fly.

The central theme in this rengay is "Squashed".

A true Zen ending... Where's the catch!?:)If I may ask a stupid question!?:)

A great selection of squashed ideas. I really liked the picnic and photo one. It reminded me of those infrequent times when you have to sacrifice your personal space to squeeze up to people.

JEM: Thanks... yes, those tight situations can be tense (e.g. in a stuck elevator, or around a picnic table). :-)

You should have added something about zucchini squash. We eat so many from our garden I feel like I'm "squashed" too.

I liked your theme. I've been it so many times being the youngest of 8.

Pamela: I'd love to try some of your squash, but alas you are such a distance away. Thanks.
