Renhai Reflections 46: A Glimpse Within

A Glimpse Within

A Renhai by Vaughn Seward (Solo)

My upside down
and backwards face in this
new spoon.

Clouds float across
an alpine valley lake.

The puppy's nose
grows huge upon each

More than enough material to make one reflect upon the world of self-reflection – a child’s play of sorts!:)

Love that last verse - in fact the whole Renhai.

The contrasting images of the first and last tercet are clever & playful. The author gives the impression that this is the purpose of the renhai - a display of humor and wit. I don't look for anything else.

However, the tenor of the central couplet seems mismatched and also inadequate, making me question the author's intentions.

Nice smile-inducing ones here. Especially the first and last. I'll never not be excited by my reflection in spoons. I like especially the mention of 'new' - a familiar face in a new spoon. Very good specific.
