Link with 931: Fog.

[One morning in January before sunrise the temperature was somewhere below -30C. As we were driving into the downtown area the city skyline came into view and we beheld a remarkable sight. In the still cold air the lights from all the office towers twinkled through the frozen haze.]

the 2 worst things in the world (to me)- early morning and cold :)

lost my comment

scene sounds deLIGHTful.
When we were at the beach we saw what looked like a spot light coming from a house on the cliff. Upon investigation all the houses looked like they had spot lights, especially the ones with sky windows.

The sun was reflecting brightly - with just enough mist from the surf to show like a bright staircase to heaven.

Beautiful! Including -30C. I can only imagine it, especially the temperature!?:)

Andrew: :-)

Pamela: Thanks. All of us sure have special moments...thanks for sharing this one.

Floots, John, Tikkis: Thank you all.

Borut: Thanks. So how cold can it get where you are?

About -15C here in Ljubljana. But not this winter! I wouldn't be surprised if average daily temperatures for this winter turn out to be around oC to 5C of even higher. It's the first year in fifteen in which 2000 liters of fuel oil will suffice for the whole winter/year!:)

that's beautiful!

to add my two cents to borut's comment, it can be as cold as -25C at the day's low but not every winter. but this one is extreme in many regards. we've hardly had temperatures below freezing and only a couple snow days, quite the opposite of the last winter, which had snow cover and freezing temperatures for nearly 5 months.

You do have a knack for capturing the moment. But, then that is what you're supposed to do with haiku.

Just prior to reading Andrew's comment, I was thinking, "This captures two of the best things to me - early morning, and cold". :):):)

Nicely done, Vaughn. This encapsulates, in just three lines, a moment I've experienced often.

Polona: Thanks. It appears to have been a wacky two years where you are. It's kind of been the opposite here.

Aurora: Thank you.
