x-mas vacation... i make a friend with my new walkie-talkie

[One year as a boy I got a walkie-talkie for Christmas. This was exactly what I had asked for. Boy, was I happy. I was even more thrilled a few days after Christmas when I was talking to my sister on it and another kid's voice came on. I got chatting with him and I found out he lived a couple of blocks away. We became best of friends.]
what a cool memory. I'm jealous. I had to make my own with two soup cans and a string. Giggle.
A few years ago a kid in Milwaukie, OR had his new Walkie-talkie out and picked up a cell phone signal from two lost mountain climbers on Mt Hood and saved their lives. I thought about that this last week when 3 mtn climbers didn't come back.
From "The Haiku Anthology" I became interested in Haiku and I have since written numerous haiku, senyru, and tanka. "Masago", my haiku pen-name, means "grain(s) of sand" in Japanese. I have recently started learning Esperanto and Japanese. A few years ago I developed a new eastern verse form which we now call 'Renhai'.

It's amazing what we can do when we don't work! :)

Radio! Now we have friends in Internet.
how cool! :)
Does cotton string and tin cans count?? Love it Vaughn!!
Pamela: String and cans, eh? Actually, I had that too. That's why I asked for the walkie-talkies. Of course every kid now has a cell phone. :-)
Aurora: No they don't, I suppose.
Andrew: ...the greatest discoveries. Maybe we should work less? :-)
Tim: Thanks. Cheers to you for the new year!
Richard: Roger, over & out.
John: Thanks.
Tikkis: Yes, the ultimate walkie-talkie.
Polona: Thanks.
Pat: Of course! :-)
