karasu: I understand. These were flitting around so fast and they were here one moment and gone the next. It was difficult to actually count them but there seemed to be at least two or three at any one time. ;-)
From "The Haiku Anthology" I became interested in Haiku and I have since written numerous haiku, senyru, and tanka. "Masago", my haiku pen-name, means "grain(s) of sand" in Japanese. I have recently started learning Esperanto and Japanese. A few years ago I developed a new eastern verse form which we now call 'Renhai'.

I'm a bit slower than you Vaughn, and have to use my fingers to count (particularly as these little critters are difficult to see on the water). ; )
